Open any YouTube video

Navigate to any YouTube video. SimplyClip adds a  Clip button next to the Subscribe button automatically.

Drag the timeline handles or type exact timestamps. Choose your quality ÔÇö 360p up to 1080p. Press [ and ] while watching to mark your clip points.

Click Download Clip. Your MP4 saves directly to your Downloads folder. No ads, no redirects, no waiting.

Add SimplyClip to Chrome

Visit the Chrome Web Store and click "Add to Chrome". The  Clip button will appear on YouTube automatically.

Download the helper app

Click the SimplyClip icon in your Chrome toolbar, then click "Download Helper". Run the SimplyClip_Helper.exe file that downloads. Windows may show a security prompt ÔÇö click "More info" then "Run anyway".

You're done

The helper starts automatically every time you boot your computer. Look for the SC icon in your system tray. Go to YouTube and start clipping.

Yes, completely free. No subscription, no premium tier, no watermarks.
Browser extensions can't process video files directly ÔÇö they're sandboxed for security. The helper app (which runs locally on your machine) handles the actual video downloading and trimming using yt-dlp and ffmpeg. Your video data never leaves your computer.
Yes. The helper is open source and runs a simple local server on port 9999 that only accepts connections from your browser. It doesn't connect to any external servers. Windows SmartScreen may warn you because the app isn't code-signed yet ÔÇö click "More info" then "Run anyway" to proceed.
You can choose from 360p, 480p, 720p, or 1080p. Higher quality options (1440p, 4K) are coming in a future update.
The Chrome extension works on Mac, but the helper app is currently Windows-only. Mac support is in development.
It depends on your jurisdiction and what you do with the downloaded content. Downloading for personal use is generally accepted in many countries. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to download any content you clip. SimplyClip should not be used to infringe on copyright.
